Description

Levitra is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Vardenafil (Levitra) is used to treat male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction-ED). In combination with sexual stimulation, vardenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man get and keep an erection. This drug does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, hepatitis B, gonorrhoea, syphilis). Practice "safe sex" such as using latex condoms. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Levitra (vardenafil) relaxes muscles found in the walls of blood vessels and increases blood flow to particular areas of the body. Levitra at low prices is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence). Levitra will last for a similar amount of time as Viagra (four to six hours). The main difference to Viagra is that Levitra tends to be less affected by food or alcohol so can be taken with meals. There is also some evidence that Levitra is more effective in diabetics than other erectile dysfunction medicines.

Vardenafil indications and contraindications are the same as with other PDE5 inhibitors; it is closely related in function to Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) and Tadalafil (Cialis). The difference between the vardenafil molecule and sildenafil citrate is a nitrogen atom's position and the change of sildenafil's piper zine ring methyl group to an ethyl group. Tadalafil is structurally different from both sildenafil and vardenafil. Vardenafil's relatively short effective time is comparable to but somewhat longer than sildenafil's. Beyond its indications for erectile dysfunction, vardenafil may be effective in the treatment of premature ejaculation, where it may significantly increase the time from penetration to ejaculation.

Levitra tablets contain an active ingredient called Vardenafil. Each tablet contains either 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg or 20mg Vardenafil. Your doctor – or online doctor – will make a dosage recommendation based on your medical history. For men who are trying Levitra for the first time, the recommended dose is 10mg. Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence in adult males, is the inability to obtain and/or maintain a hard erect penis sufficient for sexual activity. Levitra tablet contains the active ingredient Vardenafil which works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis when you are sexually aroused. This allows blood to flow into the penis, allowing you to get an erection. Levitra will only work if you are sexually aroused. It will not increase your sex drive. Levitra is not addictive.

Levitra contains vardenafil, a member of a class of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. They are used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men, a condition which implies difficulties in getting or keeping an erection. At least one in ten men has trouble getting or keeping an erection at some time. There may be physical or psychological causes, or a mixture of both. Whatever the cause is, due to muscle and blood vessel changes not enough blood stays in the penis to make it hard and keep it hard. Levitra will only work when you are sexually stimulated. It reduces the action of the natural chemical in your body which makes erections go away. Levitra allows an erection to last long enough for you to satisfactorily complete sexual activity.

HOW DOES LEVITRA WORK?

Vardenafil can help a man get and maintain an erection. During a penile erection, the penis fills with blood. The blood vessels that supply the penis with blood expand, or dilate, and the vessels that take blood away from the penis contract. The two large chambers in the penis, known as the corpus cavernosa, fill with blood. As the blood accumulates in the penis, an erection results. Vardenafil belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5) inhibitors. A PDE5 inhibitor stops PDE5 from constricting the arteries. By relaxing the arteries, vardenafil enhances blood flow when a man is sexually aroused. The active ingredient works on the chain of reactions within the penis during arousal. When a male is sexually aroused, nitric oxide is released into his penis, and this triggers a chain of reactions. This causes an enzyme, guanylate cyclase, to produce cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP regulates the contraction and dilation, or expansion, of blood vessels that carry blood to and from the penis. The chemical reaction causes the vessels that supply the penis to dilate, while those removing blood from the penis contract. Phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5), another enzyme breaks down or destroys cGMP. When cGMP is destroyed, the blood vessels return to their normal size, effectively ending the erection. Vardenafil stops PDE5 from destroying cGMP. In this way, it allows cGMP to work for longer. As a result, it helps prolong an erection.

WHY DO MEN GET ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION?

A range of factors contribute to erectile dysfunction, including lifestyle choices, mental state, chronic disease, and injuries and operations. Emotional problems, such as stress and performance anxiety, can have an impact on both erectile performance and sexual desire. Occasional treatment with a PDE5 inhibitor such as Levitra can be effective in breaking a cycle of anxiety and failure. Lifestyle factors, such as smoking, non-prescription drug use, excessive drinking and even obesity can have an effect. Erectile dysfunction is sometimes a symptom of underlying health problems such as diabetes, atherosclerosis and heart disease, amongst others.

Men suffering from erectile dysfunction should inform their GP who will undertake an assessment, possibly perform tests, and provide advice.

HOW TO USE LEVITRA?

Before you start taking Levitra it is important to know all the information so you know how to use the drug effectively. To get the best results it is recommended that you take your prescribed dosage of the pill around 25 minutes before taking apart in sexual activity. The results can last for around 10 hours after taking the tablet although this time span does vary from person to person and it affects every man differently. You should never take more than one tablet per day even if you have been prescribed the lowest possible dosage.

Take Levitra exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets.

The tablets can be taken with or without food. Levitra is taken only when needed, about 60 minutes before sexual activity. The medicine can help achieve an erection when sexual stimulation occurs. An erection will not occur just by taking a pill. Contact your doctor or seek emergency medical attention if your erection is painful or lasts longer than 4 hours. A prolonged erection (priapism) can damage the penis.

Staxyn (vardenafil disintegrating tablets) should not be used in place of Levitra (vardenafil regular tablets). Avoid medication errors by using only the form and strength your doctor prescribes. Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. If you receive medical care for heart problems, tell your caregivers when you last took vardenafil.

Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start taking Vardenafil and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually as needed. Take vardenafil, with or without food, about 1 hour before sexual activity. Do not take more than once daily. Doses should be taken at least 24 hours apart.

The dosage is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, and herbal products).

Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve.

ADVANTAGES OF LEVITRA

There are several different types of erectile dysfunction treatment available, so it can be difficult trying to determine which one is the most suitable for you. However, your doctor will be able to help.

Duration

Levitra becomes effective within 25 minutes to an hour of taking the tablet, and then continues to work for a period of four to five hours. This does not mean that you will have an erection for this entire duration, but you will get an erection when aroused by sexual stimulation

Easy to take

Levitra is taken on demand; you can simply take Levitra shortly before sexual activity as you need to. You should not take more than one Levitra pill in the course of a day.

Levitra remains effective if taken immediately after a meal, though a meal high in fat may cause the effects to be delayed. The 10 mg dose of Levitra is the only ED pill available as an or dispersible tablet, which can be placed on the tongue to melt in the mouth. This enables Levitra to be taken in a discreet manner, without a glass of water.

Effective treatment

Levitra produces effective results in the majority of men that use it. In clinical trials, between 68% and 80% of participants were able to achieve penetration, depending on their dosage. Between 53% and 65% of participants found they were able to maintain an erection.

Side effects

The most common side effect experienced with Levitra is headache, reported in up to one in ten users. Up to one in 100 people experience a blocked nose, indigestion, flushing, or feeling dizzy.

Less than 1 in 100 people who take Levitra experience serious side effects.During consultation for Levitra, a doctor will take into account any other medicines you are taking, and any pre-existing health conditions.

Suitability for those with pre-existing conditions

The smallest available dose of Levitra is 5mg. Because it is available in smaller doses than other forms of ED medication, Levitra may in some cases be issued to older patients, or those with underlying health conditions who may not be able to use other tablets.

A reputable treatment

Levitra is produced by Bayer, a well-known multinational pharmaceutical company. Before it was licensed across Europe in 2003, it was subject to testing in clinical trials.

Since being launched, Levitra has joined Viagra and Cialis in becoming a popular form of medication for erectile dysfunction.

OTHER ALTERNATIVES OF LEVITRA

Viagra : Viagra (sildenafil) is an effective, first-choice treatment for erectile dysfunction. However, you need to take Viagra (sildenafil) at least 30 minutes before having sex, so the lack of spontaneity may not work for some people.

Viagra (sildenafil) is the first-choice medication for treating erectile dysfunction. It does not have to be taken every day, it can be taken when you need it.

Viagra (sildenafil) can't be taken if you've had a heart attack in the past 3 months, or stroke or heart failure in the past 6 months. It can cause flushing, headache and dizziness, or sudden hearing and vision changes. You can't use Viagra if you've recently taken nitrates like Isordil, Imdur, or nitro-glycerine (Nitro-BID, Nitro-Dur, Nitrostat).

Cialis: Cialis (Tadalafil) is very effective and is the only medication in its class that treats both erectile dysfunction and enlarged prostate symptoms. You can also take it on a regular basis, which can allow for more spontaneity, but it can be expensive.

Cialis (Tadalafil) is the first-choice medication for treating erectile dysfunction. It can be taken either as needed, or on a regular basis (which allows you to be more spontaneous before sex). Cialis has longer lasting effects than Viagra.

You can't take Cialis (Tadalafil) if you've had a heart attack in the past 3 months, or stroke or heart failure in the past 6 months. Cialis is only available as brand name, so it can be expensive. If you're older than age 65, you might have more side effects. You can't use Cialis if you've recently taken nitrates like Isordil, Imdur, or nitro-glycerine (Nitro-BID, Nitro-Dur, Nitrostat).

LEVITRA, CIALIS OR VIAGRA- WHICH IS BEST?

Levitra, Cialis and Viagra are alternative tablet treatments for erectile dysfunction and are also available to buy in various strengths and pack sizes after completing the same medical consultation.

Different erectile dysfunction medicines suit different people, but it is difficult to tell which one will be best for you until you have tried them all. While a particular erectile dysfunction medicine may not work for you first time round, we recommend taking it at least eight times before giving up and trying another. This is because it can often take this long to determine whether or not a medicine is right for you.

PRECAUTIONS WHILE TAKING LEVITRA

Before taking vardenafil, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: heart problems (such as heart attack or life-threatening irregular heartbeat in the past 6 months, chest pain/angina, heart failure), stroke in the past 6 months, kidney disease (dialysis), liver disease, high or low blood pressure, a severe loss of body water (dehydration), penisconditions (such as angulation, fibrosis/scarring, Peyronie's disease), history of painful/prolonged erection (priapism), conditions that may increase the risk of priapism (such as sickle cell anemia, leukemia, multiple myeloma), eye problems (such as retinitis pigmentosa, sudden decreased vision, NAION), bleeding disorders, active stomach ulcers.

Vardenafil may cause a condition that affects the heart rhythm (QT prolongation). QT prolongation can rarely cause serious (rarely fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (such as severe dizziness, fainting) that need medical attention right away.

The risk of QT prolongation may be increased if you have certain medical conditions or are taking other drugs that may cause QT prolongation. Before using vardenafil, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the drugs you take and if you have any of the following conditions: certain heart problems (heart failure, slow heartbeat, QT prolongation in the EKG), family history of certain heart problems (QT prolongation in the EKG, sudden cardiac death).

Low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood may also increase your risk of QT prolongation. This risk may increase if you use certain drugs (such as diuretics/"water pills") or if you have conditions such as severe sweating, diarrhoea, or vomiting. Talk to your doctor about using vardenafil safely.

This drug may make you dizzy or cause vision changes. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness or clear vision until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana. Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, and herbal products).

Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially QT prolongation. This medication is not usually used in women. Therefore, it is unlikely to be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding. Consult your doctor if you have any questions about this medication.

DOES LEVITRA WORK EVERY TIME?

Response to treatment is usually predictable and consistent. On most occasions, if Levitra has worked before, it will work again.

Some causes of erectile dysfunction, such as physical injuries or nerve damage, are more resistant to tablet treatments and may require other therapies, such as injections or penile implants.

Erectile dysfunction may require specialist treatment apart from tablets. Some men, whose erectile dysfunction has psychological causes, may benefit from counselling.

All men who are troubled by erectile dysfunction, which can be a distressing problem, should consult a doctor for a full assessment and advice.

LEVITRA VS VIAGRA

When you compare Levitra vs Viagra, it is a very close race. When we put Cialis up against Viagra, the winner was a little more clear cut. But here they are much more similar.

Levitra comes in lower dosages, which is always more preferable. It also tends to be a little cheaper than Viagra, although prices definitely vary.It is recommended that both medications be taken about an hour before you anticipate becoming intimate, but Levitra is not affected by food the way Viagra is, so that's certainly an advantage. Taking Viagra with food may lessen its effectiveness.

Another advantage of vardenafil vs sildenafil is that it remains in your system a little longer, about 4-8 hours’ vs up to 6 with Viagra. So that's certainly an advantage. It's important to note here that Cialis lasts up to 36 hours, so if you are planning an extended romantic interlude, that one might be your best choice.

However, with a medication remaining in your system, there is more of a chance of interaction with other medications you may be taking. So that's always something to consider.
